Genesis 28 – Reading Note – Judah and Tamar

  • The practice of having a man bear children for his brother was in existence during the time of Judah.
  • The narrator doesn’t say why Tamar deceived Judah the way she did. Was it her plan to get pregnant by him?
  • Tamar spoke to Judah. Did he not recognize her voice or did she disguise it too?
  • Tamar was accused of prostitution, not adultery or fornication (v 24).
  • Tamar’s childbirth was the oddest one I have ever heard of. (vs 27 – 30)
