- God didn’t just tell the Israelites not to eat yeast during the Passover. They were not supposed to have any yeast or anything containing yeast during that time (v 7) (12:15, 12:19)
- The Passover festival was to be a sign to remind the Israelites of God’s laws (or to remember and keep his laws).
- God is not for child sacrifice. Even though the firstborn of every womb was his, he commanded that only animals be killed; human children were to be redeemed (v 13, 15).
- God was concerned that the people were too weak and scared to return to Egypt if they faced war (v 17, 18).
