- God gave the tribe of Levi to Aaron and his sons (the priests) to help them take care of the tabernacle (3:9).
- The Levites were given to the Lord in pace of the firstborn son of every Hebrew woman. But I thought the sons were already being redeemed at birth. Were the Levites to do the work in the tabernacle that the first born sons would have done (3:11-13)
- Just as the Levites were taken in place of the firstborn sons, the Levites’ livestock were taken in place of the livestock of the Hebrews (perhaps the firstborn). The firstborn livestock were killed and the children redeeemed, but God still required their place to be filled (3:44, 45).
- The Levites seem to be the smallest tribe which makes them good candidates for the tabernacle workers.
