- God had told the people severally that the land was a good land (flowing with milk and honey) yet when Moses sent men to spy on the land, he told them to check if the land was good with a fertile soil (13: 17 – 20)
- God had promised the people that he would give them the land. Yet, when they spies returned, they complained that the people in the land were too powerful and their cities too well fortified to beat and that they could not attack them. Since when does God lie? I can identify with their fear and doubt though but it does not excuse them or their subsequent rebellion.
