Deuteronomy 8 – Reading Note

  • According to Moses, God’s leading the Israelites in the desert for 40 years was a test to see if they would keep his commandments (8:2)
  • Also, God’s causing them to hunger was an attempt to humble them (8:3).
  • “You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” (8:17, 18)
  • Moses promised the people that God would destroy them like he was destroying the other nations if they ever went over to the dark side (8: 19, 20).
